A RESEARCH ON THE DETERMINATION OF THE PRACTICAL MEANINGS ATTRIBUTED TO THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

In this study, it is aimed to determine the practical implications of the basic concepts of the strategic management discipline. For this purpose, an evaluation has been conducted about the meanings which managers, working at different levels in 12 local firms operating in Turkey, attributed to the concepts of "strategy", "competitive advantage" and "sustainability". The data needed in the study were collected through formal interviews prepared in open-ended question format. As a result of the study, it has been determined that the basic concepts of strategic management did not go beyond the knowledge of the textbook in the minds of managers, and as a result, it manifests as strategic deprivation in practice.
